My MAC Lipstick Collection

Having slowly built up a little collection over time, I’ve really started to have a love for lipsticks, whether they’re high end or cheaper. I’m definitely most proud of my MAC lipsticks, and because they’re so expensive, I’m happy I’ve not managed to lose any yet!

From Left to Right: Creme Cup, Snob, Politely Pink, Vegas Volt, Viva Glam Gaga, Kittenish, Baby’s On Fire, Girl About Town

Creme Cup is a Cremesheen finish, which gives a nice, soft application on the lips and is really creamy. It doesn’t dry into the cracks of your lips either, so the colour coverage lasts hours. It’s a nice colour to wear in the daytime, a pinky-nude as it’s a ‘your lips but better’ colour. It’s part of the permanent collection so it’s available to buy for £13.50.

Snob is a Satin finish, which is also a nice, creamy finish. it’s a light pink lipstick with a purpley tone, and I usually wear it as an evening colour for full coverage. If I was to use it in the daytime I would dab it on lightly to make it slightly paler. This lipstick is also part of the permanent collection at £13.50.

Politely Pink is a Lustre finish, which is a slightly drier formula than the cremesheen and satin finishes. Lustre finishes have a pearl tone to them, and this one is a pinky-nude with a sparkly finish. It’s different to Creme Cup in that it’s a bluer tone and Creme Cup is slightly warmer. Bluer toned lipsticks are known for making your teeth look whiter, which is why it’s a shame I don’t use this one more  because of the drier formula. Another lipstick part of the permanent collection.

Vegas Volt is an Amplified finish, which gives a long lasting colour on the lips and is another creamy formula. If you want a really pretty orangey coral colour then I would definitely recommend this as it’s one of my favourites to wear in the summer. This is also part of the permanent collection.

From Left to Right, Creme Cup, Snob, Politely Pink, Vegas Volt, Viva Glam Gaga, Kittenish, Baby’s On Fire & Girl About Town

Viva Glam Gaga is quite surprisingly a Lustre finish, as in my opinion it doesn’t have a pearl tone when I apply it. I think it has quite a matte finish, in a bright Barbie-pink colour. I wear this in the day but apply less, and wear a full coverage for going out.  It’s one of my favourite lipsticks and I’m surprised I haven’t used it to death. This is still available to buy for £13.50.

Kittenish is a Cremesheen finish and is soft and easy to apply just like Creme Cup. However Kittenish is a dark, vampy, purpley-red colour which is a colour I’d only wear for a night out. It’s dramatic, but it’s a colour I’m not afraid to wear and one of my favourites. This lipstick was part of the Fabulous Felines Collection so it’s not available to buy from MAC anymore, although there will definitely be similar shades elsewhere.

Baby’s on Fire is a Dazzle lipstick and is probably my least favourite MAC lipstick I’ve bought. It has a lot of sparkle and glitter, which I usually love, but not in a lipstick. Baby’s on Fire is a muted red, and applies to my lips with a subtle coverage. There is definitely more glitter than colour, and the glitter feels quite rough on the lips when applying, which I don’t find very nice. This lipstick was part of the Dazzle Lipstick Collection and I don’t think it’s available anymore.

My final MAC lipstick is Girl About Town and is my all-time favourite. I always come back to this and never forget about it, as I love the dramatic colour. It’s an Amplified finish so it’s long lasting, and is a really pretty fuschia pink. I think it was my first or second MAC lipstick and I’m glad it was. I love this lipstick so much, I’ll wear it day or night. It’s part of the permanent collection so it’s still available to buy.

I would like to invest in a good quality red lipstick from MAC, but I need to do my research so I don’t end up being let down! I also want to try the new Viva Glam Nicki, but I think I need to justify saving up for another pink lipstick!

So these are my MAC lipsticks, and as a disclaimer, I’m in no way attempting to show off! They’re just something I’m proud of. 🙂

Mini Beauty Haul: Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream & L’Oreal Super Liner

Loreal Paris Super Liner in Black Vinyl – £6.49, Collection 2000 Cream Puff Lip Cream in Fairy Cake – £2.99

I’ve wanted to try out a couple of new things recently, and today I bought a new eye liner and lip cream. The eye liner I’ve used for years and never wanted to use anything else was Collection 2000’s Fast Stroke Eyeliner in Black. I’ve always loved that eye liner because it’s so precise and has a hard nib at the end so it’s easy to get a good line with it. The only bad thing about it is its tendancy to dry out really quickly, and it becomes less precise and not as smooth. So I had a look around, and thought I’d try out Loreal Paris’s Superliner in Black Vinyl. There were no testers around, so I assumed from the way it looked that it would be a felt tip type eye liner which I really wanted.

However, I got home and realised I was wrong. It has a soft tip which makes it harder for me to get a precise line without it squiggling everywhere. I was quite disappointed, but I’m yet to try it out properly and it might change my mind the more I use it.

I’ve only had it a couple of hours, but I think I’m already obsessed with Collection 2000’s Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream in Fairy Cake. The coverage of colour is thick like a lipstick but applies glossy, then dries with a velvety matt finish. I love wearing lipsticks so it’s perfect for me, and at only £2.99 it’s a bargain. It also has a lovely vanillary smell that’s not too overpowering. The only negative thing I would say about it is to definitely apply a lip balm about 20 minutes before to let it soak in as it can be a little drying on its own. I’ll definitely buy the lip cream in other colours; possibly Cotton Candy and Powder Puff.
