I’ve never been a fan of the whole New Year’s Eve thing; to me it’s a whole lot of fuss over one big anti-climax. But, it wouldn’t be tradition without bringing the new year in with a few celebratory drinks, so the preparation starts now.
If you do things the way I do, hopefully you’ll enjoy this post!
Body – First up, I need to get last week’s tan off, and this week’s on! Yesterday I ran myself a bath filled with a Dashing Santa Bath Bomb from Lush, and gave my skin a good exfoliation with Soap & Glory’s Sugar Crush Body Scrub. After drying off I slathered on Ted Baker’s Body Souffle to rehydrate my skin.
Face – Face-wise, I had to of course get my face mask on – using my old faithful, Una Brennan Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Clay Mask. I’d leave this on for 10 minutes before washing off a little with warm water, then buff my skin with the No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush and remove the rest with a wet muslin cloth. I then applied Benefit’s Triple Performing Facial Emulsion and the It’s Potent! Eye Cream. While that was sinking in, I dyed my eyebrows with the Colorsport 30 Day Mascara. This dye kit doesn’t last 30 days; a week at best, but unfortunately it’s the best kit I’ve found. I’ll leave this on for 5 minutes instead of just 1 as instructed, but I feel it helps the longevity of the colour.
Nails – As I already have my fingernails done regularly, it’s up to me to paint my toenails. I used two to match my fingernails; Makeup Revolution’s Nail Polish in Call Me Naive, and Barry M’s Nail Polish in Treasure Chest from the Aquarium Collection.
Tanning – Today is all about the tanning; this evening I’ll be applying Cocoa Brown’s 1 Hour Instant Tan, along with Garnier Ambre Solaire Dry Face Mist. What I love about this face tanner is that it doesn’t break me out, you can apply multiple layers once it’s dried, and it smells like holidays. On New Year’s Eve itself, I’ll be testing out the NKD Skin Matte Wash Off Instant Tan by Vita Liberata to boost my colour.
Hair – For the hair, I’ll be using my Bumble and Bumble Mending Shampoo and Conditioner. For prep, tonight I’ll be using the Mending Masque, so my hair will hopefully be thicker and super strong. I’ll be sporting my usual waves with my GHD’s, but not before an hour of my Primark Velcro Rollers have been in place. I’ll then spritz a whole load of Fudge Urban Iced Raspberry and Vanilla Hair Spray.
Makeup – Now onto the part I’m still deciding; the makeup! I’ve been trawling through makeup artists’ Instagram photos to get some ideas, and I know I’ll be wanting plenty of eye glitter! It’s New Year, don’t forget. The face products will be as normal, so check out Day 5 of my Blogmas posts to see what I’ll be using. For eyelashes, I’ll be using Eylure’s 141 set for a fluttery effect, along with a feline flick and Barry M’s Dazzle Dust in Gold Iridescent. For lips, I’m hoping to use Bourjois’ Rouge Velvet in Happy Nude Year. Could that be any more fitting?!
Outfit – And finally, the outfit! Mine should be sponsored by Missguided… seriously. I’ll be wearing their Savannah Lace Bralet in Nude with this White Sequin Midi Skirt. For shoes, I’ll be sporting my white birthday heels from River Island, and accessorising with a H&M Nude Clutch Bag and some dainty gold jewellery. Scent-wise, I’ll be spritzing on YSL’s Black Opium. Aaaaamazing.
So that’s my NYE party prep! Whether you’re going out or staying in, I hope you enjoyed.
It looks like we both have been thinking about a party preparation post, more or less around the same moment of the year…and we’ve both been wearing YSL Black Opium…ah, I love this fragrance!
How about the Bourjois Rouge Velvet? I’ve seen some of the most popular bloggers love this product, but is it worth the hype? I’d like to purchase a red from their collection…but even though it’s not an expensive item, you know the feeling, it’s better to check in advance 😉
I hope you had fun and you started well the 2015 and I wish you the very best.
