What’s in My Makeup/Skincare Bag: Travel Edition

P1090860Apologies for the delay of this post, but welcome to Day 5 of this week’s Blogmas!

As of late I’ve been making a weekend trip to Sheffield each month to see a couple of my friends and revisit my uni days. As I’m heading there next week I thought it would be the perfect chance to share what makeup and skincare I take with me, and how I pack. As a heads up, I’m fairly obsessive when it comes to organisation… if you’re the same, then hopefully you’ll enjoy this post! And if you’re the opposite, I’m not a loser… honest.

I don’t know what I did before I bought this Hanging Travel Roll from Boots. Well I do actually, I had about 3 different bags to chuck everything into and it wasn’t practical for me. With this bag, it has 3 clear compartments inside, as well as a few small ones. I find it ideal to have everything in one place, where I can hang it up and see everything I need. Once I need to pack it, it just folds away into my bag. So simple.

Face – To cleanse, I have my mini Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and a couple of muslin cloths to use with it, along with the Garnier 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover to budge my waterproof mascara. I’m currently testing out the Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser, which fits in nicely with my travel size products. I usually take my N-Spa Radiant Flash Serum to keep my skin looking glowy after a fair bit of travelling, popping this on after moisturising.

Body – In the run up to Christmas, I’ve been taking my mini Rose Jam from Lush for body wash. I received this handy travel size version of Soap & Glory’s Righteous Butter as part of a gift set last Christmas, so it’s the perfect amount of body moisturiser. I also love this Nip & Fab Body Slim Fix after a hot shower to improve the appearance of my skin (and the lack of exercise I’ve had as of late!) For tanning, I have my old favourite, Rimmel’s Sun Shimmer in Medium Shimmer to give my legs a glowy boost.

Hair – Hair-wise, I’ve always loved the Charles Worthington minis. I’m currently using the Colour Enhancer Shampoo and Shine Booster Conditioner, and the Strength & Repair Heat Defence Spray. I’ll take my Primark velcro rollers for a bit of volume, and my GHD’s allow me to go for either straight or wavy tresses.

Base – I have two foundations; my usual L’Oreal True Match in Golden Natural for during the day, and MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid in NC35 for going out. I like a fuller coverage for a special occasion as I won’t have to top up and there’s less need for powdering. For concealer I have Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer in Cool Medium for any blemishes and a little to mix in with L’Oreal’s Lumi Magique Concealer in Medium for a highlight. I bronze and contour with Rimmel’s Natual Bronzer in Sun Glow, and use Bourjois Java Rice Powder to set my base in place, along with a little bit of Cream Blush in Rose Tender.

Eyes – For the brows, I have my Bobbi Brown Brow Kit in Brunette, while for eyes I take The Body Shop’s Instablur Eye All in One for primer, and Sleek’s Au Natural Palette for a good selection of eyeshadows. It has all of the colours I need for a day look as well as taking me through to the night, so it saves me taking 50 palettes! I then have my Collection Eyeliner to do my usual feline flick, and a bit of Barry M’s Dazzle Dust in 322 to use as an inner corner highlight. For mascara, I take my recent favourite; Max Factor’s False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara. As I love false eyelashes, I have two pairs; Eylure’s 143 and 141. One is more natural, the other slightly dramatic which finish my eyes off nicely.

Lips – I have Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm to keep my lips nice and moisturised, and for colour I have my beloved Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in 030 for a bold option and Maybelline’s Color Sensational in Coffee Craze to keep things nude with a smokey eye.

Apart from the standard essentials (mini toothpaste, deodorant, painkillers, hair grips), that’s pretty much everything I can fit into this handy travel roll. The stuff that’s missing ie. hair spray, unfortunately gets thrown in my case at full size, putting my organisational skills to shame…

So that’s what’s in my beauty travel bag! What minis do you take when you travel?
