This is one of those cult blog posts I love reading, so I thought I’d give it a go. It will hopefully be the first edition of many, as and when I shake up my makeup choices. Here’s what I’ve currently got in my makeup bag.
So, first things first, the base. I’ve been using L’Oreal’s Lumi Magique Foundation in Gold Linen this summer, and you can read my review of it here. It’s a glowy medium coverage foundation that doesn’t feel too heavy. For concealer, it’s my old favourite Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Cool Medium. I love this concealer for everything; under eye circles, blemishes. It does the job perfectly. Then for powder; I recently picked up Bourjois’ Java Rice Loose Powder, and after taking forever trying to get into the contraption, (was that just me?!) it somehow reminds me of playing with my mum’s old makeup, therefore there’s nostalgia aplenty. To me, the scent’s a bit grannyish but the consistency is light and it sets my makeup perfectly without looking too matt. To bronze and contour, I use Rimmel’s Natural Bronzing Powder in Sun Glow. This is a darker colour than I usually go for but hey, it’s summer and I want to look tanned! Onto the highlight; I am in love with MUA’s Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder. I dust this on the top of my cheek bones and it finishes off my base nicely.
Onto the eyes. I prime with MUA’s Pro Base Eye Primer; although it doesn’t prevent creasing all day it makes my eye makeup last right up until I take it off. I’m currently using this No 7 Eyeshadow Palette I got for Christmas many moons ago; it comes with 3 nice, subtle shades to create a pretty day look. I haven’t been wearing much eyeliner lately, apart from Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liner in Nude on my water line. It opens up my eyes and keeps them looking bright when I’m lacking on sleep. For mascara, I’m testing out a new one, and to be honest, I’m not too wowed by it. Maybelline’s Mega Plush Mascara is rather subtle and lacking on thickness on the eyelashes. It applies nicely and separates my lashes, so it’s a nice bottom lash mascara, but I’m still on the hunt for the perfect one.
Finally, my favourite part; the lips! My ultimate favourite summer lipstick, MAC’s Candy Yum-Yum is always in my makeup bag. However I have a new addition; Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Shocking Coral has become my go-to colour, especially when I want something nice on my lips for work, but not too crazy. I’ll apply a little to my lips and dab it along with my finger, creating a subtle stain.
