L’Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation

All hail the ultimate summer foundation! I shouldn’t be giving that away before I get down to the details, but I can’t help but love this product. L’Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation has been around for a good couple of years now, and I really wish I’d tried it sooner.

Summer always usually calls for a lighter, glowy foundation. Back when this one was released, I was using (also newly released at the time) Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation, which I reviewed here. L’Oreal’s Lumi Magique offers a better shade range, and to be honest, I generally just like this one more.

Why? I’ll explain below…

Its claims;

Helps give skin instant radiance: Yes, it gives the skin a glowy, radiant complexion which doesn’t leave the skin looking or feeling too greasy. My skin does get oilier during the summer, but this foundation hasn’t made me shiny enough to get the Edward Cullen effect.

Light texture, lets skin breathe with 24 hours of hydration: I don’t know about the 24 hours, but the rest; definitely. It doesn’t feel heavy at all on the skin, the consistency is light but still offers medium coverage. It also doesn’t cling to dry patches.

In addition; I’m in love with the packaging. The rose gold bottle looks nice on my dressing table, and the user-friendly pump dispenser is always a plus with liquid foundations.

The only con I have with this foundation is its lasting power; once I’ve buffed it into the skin I usually need to powder my oily T-Zone to prolong its coverage. I also have to powder after a few hours to keep the base from slipping. Although it does a good job covering up blemishes and my dark circles, concealer is still a must; however I do expect this without wearing a full coverage foundation.

*One technique I’ve discovered over the past couple of days to make this last a full day and without powdering is mixing one small pump of this foundation into the Lumi Magique. It works a treat.

Why I’ll be using this instead of Rimmel’s Wake Me Up: The shade range is better, it’s the right amount of dewy, it doesn’t break me out and has a higher SPF (18). If you’d like to see how the foundation looks on as well as after a couple of hours wear, check out my last post.

Looks like my L’Oreal True Match will be put back into the makeup drawer until Autumn!
