I’m back! After a hefty amount of deadlines & waving 3 years of uni goodbye, I finally have time on my hands to give my blog some TLC. It’s a nice distraction from spending (endless) hours hunting for a graduate job.
Since I’ve been away I’ve gained a huge pile of products worth talking about; so I thought I’d share my thoughts on just 5 of them (for now).
1. Superfacialist By Una Brennan – Tea Flower Pore Purifying Clay Mask – on sale at £5.99 (RRP £8.99)
I bought this beauty back in April, and it’s been in my skincare regime ever since. On a typical pamper night I will slather this mask on after a thorough cleanse, and after 5 minutes or so (and my face smelling a bit like sweet tea) I’ll wash off the clay, leaving my skin feeling nice and refreshed.
Life’s been a little stressful lately and left me with a breakout on my forehead; I find this mask to be great for unclogging my pores and bringing everything to the surface, so I can then combat it with a good spot treatment.
Bonus: When I’m in the mood for my own DIY facial, I love removing the mask with a cotton pad soaked in hot water; it’s such a nice feeling on the skin.
2. Alpha-H Liquid Gold – £31.50
For my birthday I received a Cult Beauty gift voucher, which I found an ample opportunity to cave & give this hyped up skincare product a go. I would never personally splurge on a product this expensive (unless I was absolutely minted) so I thought, it’s my birthday; why the hell not?
I use Liquid Gold once or twice a week; no more, as I have very sensitive skin and I’d be scared to use it too often for that reason as well as the price tag. Before bed I’ll apply a few drops with a cotton pad to my face, and within the first 3 seconds it stings the HELL out of my skin. Yes, I know this sounds scary. I was warned prior to this by a friend, but after those 3 seconds, it’s gone (for me anyway).
As I don’t use it often I’ll go for the intensive treatment and leave my moisturisers and creams for the morning. I find this to be one of those products that is great for when you’re looking terrible; ie tired, dull and in serious need of a pick-me-up. My skin will look fresher and more radiant, as well as helping to combat my angry forehead breakout.
It’s worth investing in!
3. Seventeen Skin WOW 3 Way Highlighter – £5.99
I heard about this product through blogger Dizzy Brunette a few months back, and it wasn’t the fact she was raving about a highlighter, it was the fact she was raving about a highlighter from Seventeen. I haven’t bought their cosmetics since I was a teenager, but took a shine to them again when my sister bought me their brow kit for Christmas (which has now been discontinued…WHY!?)
I love this stuff. Just a couple of pumps mixed with my all time favourite foundation L’Oreal True Match and it gives my skin a glowier finish, which is perfect for summer.
Enough said.
4. NYC Individual Eyes Palette Smokey Blues – £3.99
This eyeshadow palette was one of my many birthday treats from my sister, and I haven’t put it down since. When it comes to eyeshadows neutrals are always a winner, and this palette allows me to create daytime looks as well as a smokey night time look.
I’ve never used NYC‘s makeup, so I was surprised to find these shades offer a huge amount of pigmentation and a good amount of shades in such a compact palette. I’m even more pleased now I’ve seen the price!
Out of all of the colours I particularly love the gold shade; it’s a great highlight for the inner eye corners as well as the brow bone, without resembling a disco ball.
5. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Ole Flamingo – £8.99
I’m such a sucker for lipsticks, and when this collection was released I caved. I love everything about this lipstick; it’s a matte finish, it stays put for hours, it doesn’t bleed all over your face and the pigmentation is amazing.
The applicator allows you to get the colour on precisely, and it dries quickly to save any smudges. The colour is a gorgeous hot berry pink shade, perfect for a bright summer lip.
The only downside, as with all bright lipsticks – the teeth check. Lipstick on your nashers is never a good look.
It won’t be long before I’ve bought them all…
So those were my 5 mini reviews! What are your thoughts on the products I’ve mentioned?
