Spring has finally come around; hooray! Therefore the first thing on my to-do list – have a huge clear out of my wardrobe. All hail Depop! The newest way to sell your unwanted stuff, it’s a combination of my two addictions; Ebay & Instagram.
When I stumbled upon the app I came across hundreds of girls, just like me, de-cluttering their wardrobes for an extra bit of cash, some even for uni. Then to find out it was launched all the way back in April last year, I thought, where the hell have I been to have not found it sooner?
I purchased a couple of things to see if it was any good, as well as the Explore page showing a jacket and a pair of shoes I couldn’t refuse. I will blame it on the fact I was very under the weather that week and felt rather sorry for myself, so it wasn’t my fault, honest.
This week, after noticing I was very strapped for cash, I thought that I’d combine the two; a clear-out of the clothes I was hoarding for no other reason than “I’ll probably wear it at some point” and realising there might be a chance of getting a few pennies.
Before I trawled through my wardrobe to make the ‘keep’ and ‘chuck’ piles, I had a quick read through April’s magazines (above) to gauge an idea of what I could carry on wearing for another season.
It’s always a pain buying clothes that quickly go out of style and never come back, and I have such a bad habit of thinking I can pass off something years later and call it ‘vintage’.
It’s so easy to make your items available to sell; just a picture, description and a fee price, and you’re ready to go.
The bonus is, that during March, insertion fees are only 5%, therefore Depop will only take a little bit off you when it comes to the sale.
I’ve not made any sales yet, however I only put up a few items yesterday, so fingers crossed I will be making a trip to the post office soon!
