This is my first post of this year… So happy 2014!
If you’re lucky enough to wake up every day with amazing skin I am very envious of you. However in my case, I have to chuck a load of products on my skin in order for it to be nice to me.
My skincare has been shaken up recently since the weather’s been changing; the colder months have been giving my skin an extra need of a pamper. I’ve always had combination skin; an oily t-zone and a couple of dry patches around my nose, so I’m regularly trying to combat both without aggravating one or the other. In the summer, my skin gets more oily. However at this time of year I’m in need of products that are more moisturising.
*Disclaimer – although I use a lot of The Body Shop products I’m not sponsored by them! I’m just a big fan*
After a long day and a face full of make-up I like to get a Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipe and start removing the slap. Controversial to use wipes, I know, but that’s not all I use. Then I’ll go in with a cotton pad and a couple of drops of L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution and get any left over make-up the wipe hasn’t removed, especially mascara. Once I’m make-up free I’ll splash my face with water and use The Body Shop Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser, again removing it with a cotton pad.
I’ll then be feeling nice and clean but to put some moisture back into my skin I’ll use The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day Cream. It’s a heavier moisturiser than I’d use day to day but it’s perfect for me at the moment and as it’s for sensitive skin it doesn’t break me out or feel greasy. If I can be bothered, (as sometimes I can be too lazy) I’ll neutralise the oils in my skin with The Body Shop Seaweed Purifying Toner. I’ll then pop on some Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye for my awful hereditary under eye circles.
My lips are often feeling so dry and chapped from the cold so I’ll use Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub (And lick it off!) to ex-foliate the dead skin followed by Blistex Intensive Moisturiser leaving my lips feeling lovely and soft the next morning.
Once I’ve got out of the shower in the morning I’ll use a light amount of the Aloe day cream on my dry patches, and if I have any spots I’ll use La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, which I can safely say is an amazing product for combating problem skin. I’ve always suffered from spots and I wish I’d discovered it sooner, even though i have no idea what it does! Finally I’ll use The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser as a primer for my make-up, followed by a lip balm to prep for my choice of lipstick. The one I’m currently using is N-Spa Moisturising Shea Butter Juicy Lip Butter, which smells absolutely delicious.
This isn’t a routine that’s set in stone; my skin likes to do what it wants so I’m forever changing it up!
